He is remembered in particular for the "I Have a Dream" speech which he delivered to a rally in Washington, DC in 1963. His life was tragically cut short just five years later when he was shot dead in a hotel in Memphis, Tennessee. The parade is a chance for people of all colours and creeds to join together in celebration of Martin Luther King's life and to remember his message for change through non-violence. Each year the famous words that he spoke during the address are remembered by thousands as they march.
