Turner Classic Movies - Architecture in Film: Celluloid Skyline: New York & Movies

Other events in June 2007

Celluloid Skyline Based on the award-winning book Celluloid Skyline, this exhibit will feature many of the original long lost but now found and restored original backdrops from movies filmed in New York City over the past seven decades. Accompanying this event will be an all new Grand Central Tour that will feature locations and sites of famous New York movies filmed in Grand Central.

Additional activities for this exhibit include the following:

Monday, June 4, 2-4 p.m.
The New York Production Alliance will host a Production Industry Career Day for 150 New York City high school students to learn about career opportunities in the film and TV production industry.

Thursday, June 7
James Sanders will be on-site to talk about and sign copies of his award-winning book Celluloid Skyline: New York and the Movies (Knopf Publishing).

Saturday, June 16, 2 p.m.
Ty Burr, film critic for The Boston Globe, will host an event in support of his newly released book, The Best Old Movies for Families (Anchor Books). He will screen a series of classic shorts and discuss why kids will love classic films and how to introduce them to the right films at the right age. He will also have copies of his book on hand to sign.

The New Yankee Stadium

New Yankee Stadium is the working title for a new stadium for the New York Yankees, currently under construction. It will open in 2009, replacing the third-oldest stadium in the Major Leagues.
